A referendum allowing slot machines passed more than two years ago in Washington County where Ebro is located. A similar measure was approved at the same time in Gadsden County located a short distance west of Tallahassee and home to a gaming center developed by the Porch Band of Creek Indians.
Though voters approved slots at those and other locations, Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi blocked the machines. She said the constitutional amendment that the votes were based on applies only to Broward and Dade Counties.
However, a Senate panel this week revived the idea of giving pari-mutuel locations their slot machines according to a report in the Panama City News Herald.
