Second Inmate Captured Following Escape from Holmes County Jail

Inmate was being housed in Holmes County for Bay County.
UPDATE: The Holmes County Sheriff's Office confirms that the second suspect that escaped from the Holmes County Jail this morning has been captured.

According to Holmes County Sheriff Tim Brown, 28-year-old David Challender was captured this morning. Challender and another inmate, 32-year-old Jeffery Morrill, escaped from the Holmes County Jail around 12:40 a.m. this morning. Morrill, who deputies say has tried to escape before, was captured a short time later.

Multiple law enforcement agencies assisted the Holmes County Sheriff's Office in capturing both inmates. Morrill was found by K9 units just a few hours following the escape in a wooded area 1/2 mile from the Holmes County Jail.

Challender was captured at approximately 9 a.m., when K9 units tracked him to a semi-trailer near a recycling plant about 1/4 mile from the Jail.

The Holmes County Sheriff's Office is searching for an escaped inmate, after capturing another one following an escape early Wednesday morning.

According to a release inmates 32-year-old Jeffery Morrill and 28-year-old David Challender escaped from the Holmes County Jail around 12:40 a.m. Morrill was recently sentenced to 30 years in the Florida Department of Corrections. Challender was being housed for the Bay County Sheriff's Office, while awaiting trial for murder, home invasion/robbery with a weapon, burglary of a dwelling, burglary with intent to commit theft and a state fugitive from Gwinnett County, Ga.

Morrill was captured a short time later. Challender is still at large and is considered dangerous, according to the Holmes County Sheriff's Office.
