All roads in southeast Alabama "impassable"

Included are U.S. 231, U.S. 431, U.S. 84 and other major highways
All U.S. and state highways are impassable though they are not officially closed according to the Houston County Emergency Management Agency. The agency cites information from the Alabama Department of Public Safety.

A release from EMA said the roads are in Barbour, Coffee, Crenshaw, Dale, Geneva, Henry, Houston, and Pike Counties. The word “closed” is not used in the press release though state and local officials have repeatedly advised people to stay off the roadways.

Meanwhile, all rural roadways in southeast Alabama remain closed because of potential icing. Crews will evaluate them later Wednesday and decide whether they should be reopened.
