Teenager shot to death in Ozark

“Upon arrival of law enforcement and rescue personnel a 17-year old male victim was located in the street,” police chief said.
An Ozark teenager was shot to death Sunday night. Ozark Police Chief Tony Spivey, in a written media release, said the shooting occurred about 10:00 near the intersection of Young Avenue and Yancey Street.

“Upon arrival of law enforcement and rescue personnel a 17-year old male victim was located in the street,” Spivey said. “The victim was transported by Ozark Ambulance Service to Dale County Medical Center where he later died from injuries sustained in the shooting.”

Spivey said a potential motive has been determined but it will not be released at this time due to an ongoing investigation. The name of the victim has not yet been released. A press conference scheduled for Monday afternoon is expected to yield more information regarding the case.

“At this point of the investigation agents are continuing their efforts to identify suspects in the case as well as examining evidence collected at the crime scene,” Spivey said.
