Man could be sent to jail for stealing Dothan Eagle newspapers

Two newspapers valued at $1.50 each could lead to a year behind bars.
An Abbeville man could be sent to jail for stealing two copies of the Dothan Eagle. Court records show Moses Jones, 62, was recently arrested of a Theft of Property 3rd degree charge.

He is accused of stealing the newspapers from Southern Traders, a convenience store in Abbeville. They are valued at $1.50 each.

Jones was also charged with Criminal Trespass 3rd degree because he had previously been banned from the business. Both charges are misdemeanors and punishable by up to one year in the county jail on each count.

A complaint shows Jones was arrested late Friday night and later released on $4,000 bond.
