More retailers are headed to Enterprise, and many of them are popular eating places.

"It's been a long time coming.  We're very excited to be a part of Enterprise and the surrounding communities, and we're excited to bring Popeye's to Enterprise," said Richard Robertson, Director of Operations for the regional Popeye’s investment company.

More jobs and more options in Enterprise.  The new Popeye's will be one of seven locations in Alabama.  So far, 53 people have been hired, along with five managers.  And construction crews are hard at work.

"We hope to open next weekend is what we'd like to do.  The weather and the weekend is what's going to determine that right now."

A new Chik-fil-A and Jimmy Johns are also in the works, and the city is welcoming all the new chains with open arms.

"Growth in any means in any city is wonderful.  It allows for more varieties for families when they’re going out to eat.  It helps with job growth, and job growth is huge in Alabama right now.” Enterprise Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Lisa Fenner said.

But before any doors can open, the buildings meet international code regulations.  And the city's department of engineering is making sure those guidelines are met.

"We'll do a plan review to make sure they correlate, and as they’re constructing, make sure their methods, their trades, are performing onsite and the electric and plumbing are done in accordance to the codes that are put forth," said Michael Walters, Director of Engineering Services with the City of Enterprise.

The Popeye's is located next the Arby's on Boll Weevil Circle.  Chik-fil-A is outside the Enterprise Shopping Center.

Chik-fil-A and Jimmy Johns are expected to open during the summer.
