State agents raid town hall in Midland City

Mayor said he doesn't know reason search warrant was executed, others say it involves potential misuse of funds
State investigators served a search warrant Thursday at the town hall in Midland City confiscating records from several years. The seizure by the Alabama Bureau of Investigation was confirmed by Mayor Virgil Skipper who said he doesn’t know the reason behind the raid.

"Complaints were made by concerned citizens in Midland City," Dale County District Attorney Kirke Adams said in a written statement. "After initial investigation by ABI it was agreed that a subpoena should be issued for inspection of certain records. Hopefully this inspection will wither prove or disprove the complaints," he said.

Skipper said records—many of them involving finances--- were from October, 2011 through April of this year. He said if additional records are ordered turned over the city will be glad to comply.
