The new leaders now in charge at Fort Rucker are Brigadier General Michael Lundy and Command Sergeant Major Eric Thom.
"We know that you will build off the momentum, generated by the previous chain of command team, and lead the Aviation Center of Excellence brilliantly while continuing to strengthen the great relationships with the community that already exists here," said Lieutenant Robert B. Brown, Commanding General at Fort Leavenworth.
Lundy is replacing outgoing Major General Kevin Mangum and Thom takes the place of Command Sergeant Major James Thomson.
"I'm proud to have worked with a dedicated team, spanning the entire army aviation enterprise. We took their blinders off and created an innovative, out-of-the-box solution to keep army aviation relevant for the future, said Mangum."
"Thank you all for the circus, who have kept Jen and I on our chairs with anticipation, excitement and amazement each and every day," Thomson said.
And the new leaders are looking toward the future. They say although the leadership is changing, the goals and expectations of Fort Rucker remains the same.
"I'm both humbled and honored to have been selected as the branch Command Sergeant Major. But getting here is just the beginning. The real accomplishment is building your team and working through all the challenges when you get here,” said Thom.
"You epitomize the excellence that our profession demands. And I'm now very proud to be counted amongst your ranks. And I expect you to continue mission. So thank you again for all joining us today. Above the best. Army strong," said Lundy.
Many elected officials were on hand for today's ceremony, including U.S. Representative Martha Roby (R-AL).
