CHS said no medical information was stolen but personal information such as patient names, addresses, birthdates, and social security numbers were taken. It’s not known how many Flowers patients were affected. CHS said it plans to notify potential victims.
An earlier data breach at Flowers affected personal information of several hundred patients according to the Department of Justice. Kamarian Millender, a former employee of the hospital, pleaded guilty last month to stealing the records and is scheduled to be sentenced in October. The two data breaches are apparently not related.
Millender’s theft was not discovered for several months and only then when a Henry County deputy spotted the stolen records in his car.
