Dothan police remember fallen officers

The Dothan Police Department honored four of its officers killed in the line of duty during a ceremony held Tuesday during a memorial service.
The Dothan Police Department honored four of its officers killed in the line of duty during a memorial service held Tuesday.

The department remembered the lives of four Dothan Police Officers who died in the line of duty. Among those honored were Deputy Hugh DeShazo, Sergeant Shelby Owens, Sergeant Robert Jackson, and Corporal Robert Armstrong.

"It hits home, and it lets us know that it can happen to us too," said Police Chief Greg Benton. "They were out there doing their jobs for their community and they paid that sacrifice for the people.


Officer DeShazo and Sergeant Jackson were shot to death while Sergeant Owens and Corporal Armstrong were killed traffic wrecks.
