Care Ambulance to close August 8

Care Ambulance to close August 8

Dothan will only have one rescue service after the closure.
One of Dothan's two ambulance services is shutting down in early August.

Management of Care Ambulance told employees this morning during a mandatory meeting that they would be closing on August 8. Care has served the Dothan area for about 20 years.

WDHN was made aware of the potential closing morning. Valencia Jones showed up at their headquarters on South Foster Street as the meeting was coming to closed. Jones was told by management that they would not be making any comments on the closure today and directed all inquiries to Dothan Fire Chief Larry Williams. Management went on to say that they would possibly make a statement on the matter July 24.

The closure leaves Pilcher's Ambulance Service as the only service for Dothan. They have been in business since the 1960's.

Jones will have more on the story coming up tonight on WDHN News at 5, 6 and 10.
