Caitlin’s Closet will hold a dress/suit drive in Dothan Friday, July 25th. Caitlin’s Closet is a non-profit organization founded by Miss Alabama 2014, Caitlin Brunell. Since inception in 2006, Caitlin’s Closet has distributed over 10,000 dresses valued at over $1,000,000. While the focus has primarily been on prom and formal dresses, Caitlin’s Closet has expanded to collect suits for women and men, and wedding dresses.
Caitlin’s Closet has also expanded to help young women acquire the life skills needed to define themselves so they are no longer defined by their circumstances. Caitlin has always said, “it has never been about the dress, but about the girl.” Her goal is get past the external and help young women realize they were created to make a difference.
The dress drive will be held on Friday, July 25th from noon-2:00pm in the community room at Friend Bank located at 3105 Ross Clark Circle, across from Krispy Kreme. Donations of lightly used prom dresses, wedding dresses, as well as men’s and ladies business suits will be accepted. Men’s dress shirt and ties will also be accepted. If possible, all clothing donated should be less than five years old, cleaned and on a hanger. These items will be donated to people who need but cannot afford the clothing in Alabama. Caitlin will be on hand to accept the donations. Monetary donations will also be accepted. All monetary donations will be used for shipping costs, administrative costs and to expand Caitlin’s Closet so more may benefit from the organization
