Battles retains seat on County Commison

Jackie Battles beat out Pat Thomas with a 67 to 33 percent margin.
Houston County Commissioner Jackie Battles has won re-election by what most would consider a landslide victory. In fact, he received almost seventy percent of the vote with 1,601 votes.

Battles defeated former Dothan Mayor Pat Thomas, who was trying to make a political comeback

Battles will enter his second term as the District 3 representative. That district is in portions of Dothan and the southern part of the county.

“The competition I was running against had name recognition and it's just a thrill and a pleasure to know that the people that I serve recognize the ability that I've done, the trust they have in me to serve them another four years,” said Jackie Battles.

Battles was first elected in 2010 when he ousted longtime commissioner Frances Cook.
