Arrest made in Geneva County murder case; more charges likely

Geneva County Sheriff Greg Ward says a Houston County man with a long history of crime has been charged with the murder of 26-year-old James Tice.

Police believe 29-year-old Robert Willamson, Jr. shot Tice, of Dothan, multiple times in the front yard of a trailer on Cohen Road in the Malvern community.

Williamson was also wanted by authorities on felony warrants at the time of his arrest.

Investigators arrested Williamson Friday morning after a tip according to Ward. He was located at a trailer park on County Road 4 south of Fadette and taken into custody by U.S. Marshals. He was interviewed on Friday by the Alabama Bureau of Investigation.

Ward says that more charges are pending for Williamson. He also says that others could also be charged. When questioned about it, Ward would not elaborate. Other law enforcement officials have since said that during interviews into the murder investigation there was very little cooperation by those at the trailer when Tice was shot.

Williamson is no stranger to law enforcement or WDHN News. He was arrested by Houston County deputies in January in connection to an animal cruelty investigation involving dead cattle. He was also for outstanding felony warrants for possession of a controlled substance out of Geneva County and two charges of sex offender notification act violations in Houston County. He also has a felony drug distribution charge out of Houston County.

Williamson is also a convicted sex offender after being convicted of second-degree rape in 2006.
