A teenager sought in connection with the shooting of a man was taken into custody Friday morning. Houston County Sheriff Andy Hughes said Brandon Smith, 17, was captured near the camper he had been living in south of Gordon. Smith became the target of a massive manhunt after the man allegedly burglarized a home and then shot the homeowner on Springhill Road.  Helicopters and tracking dogs were used in the search which continued overnight.

"Most of our married life we've lived in the country. We like it and we expect that we'd be safe," said the victim’s wife, Cindi Fuller.

Her perception of this  community changed when her husband called her and told her he had been shot.
"Anger took over. I experienced a lot of anger. The fact that someone would enter your home and hurt a loved one, that's a lot to take in," Fuller said.

"He actually told him that he was going to kill him. It does show you the  violent nature of our society," said Houston County Sheriff Andy Hughes.

Hughes said Smith was taken into custody about 9:45 a.m., Friday without a fight.  He is expected to be interrogated by investigators then faces multiple charges including first degree robbery, burglary, kidnapping and attempted murder charges. He will be tried as an adult due to the violent nature of this crime.
