Alleged Counterfeiters Nabbed After High Speed Chase

Three people have been arrested after allegedly trying to pass counterfeit checks at Dothan bank.
A high speed chase apparently sparked by the attempting passing of a counterfeit check at a Dothan bank ended more than 20 miles away in Hartford with three people now in custody.

“We arrested one person at Mid-South Bank (near Flowers Hospital) and the other two where the chase concluded,” said Dothan Police Captain Stacy Robinson. “We’ve also recovered what appear to be some counterfeit checks and cash apparently thrown from the vehicle during the chase.” Robinson said the initial investigation shows one of those arrested is from Georgia but identities of the other two are being checked to insure accuracy.

The chase began near the bank and continued to Flowers Chapel Road where it turned west to Brannon Stand Road and then south. When the 2013 Toyota Camry rental car reached Alabama Highway 52 at Taylor it proceeded west.

The chase ended when a Hartford police officer performed what is termed a pit maneuver to stop the fleeing car. Ten or more patrol cars may have been involved in the pursuit. Nobody was hurt.
