Following a four-game road swing, the Troy University baseball team will host Samford on Tuesday at Riddle-Pace Field. Game time is set for 6 p.m.

The Trojans (7-5) are coming off a series loss to Southern Mississippi over the weekend. Senior Shane McCain led Troy to a 5-0 win on Saturday pitching seven shutout innings and allowing just four hits.

Nick Masonia helped dig the Trojans out of a 4-0 hole on Sunday with a pair of home runs. Southern Miss would score two runs in the bottom of the eighth to pull ahead for good.

Samford (6-4) beat Butler twice and also defeated Purdue over the weekend. The Bulldogs are led by freshman Heath Quinn, who is batting .487 (19-for-39) and is the team’s co-leader in home runs (2) and RBIs (12).

RHP Parker Curry will likely get the start on the mound. In six relief appearances for Samford this season, Curry is 1-0 with a 1.74 ERA. He has allowed two runs in 10.1 innings of work but has surrendered 10 hits.

Troy’s offense enters the game leading the Sun Belt Conference in home runs (13) and stolen bases (20). The pitching staff has struck out 105 batters this season, which also leads the league.

The Trojans will turn to freshman Jesse Nelson (1-0, 1.50) who pitched five solid innings against Florida A&M a week ago.

Trevin Hall heads Troy’s offensive attacks batting .347 (17-for-49) with three home runs and nine RBIs. Garrett Pitts will carry a six-game hit streak and a 12-game reached base streak into the contest.

Troy is 38-17 all-time against Samford including a 23-4 mark at Riddle-Pace Field. The Trojans swept the home-and-home series last season.

The game will be carried on WTBF 970 AM and on
