GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Bad weather forced the Trojans to end another game early, as Troy (5-8-2) tied Indiana (1-12-1) 3-3 on Sunday morning at the Lipton Invitational, hosted by the University of Florida.

The Trojans had battled back from a two-run deficit to tie the game up in the sixth and force extra innings. Michelle Phelps picked up a single to get the rally started and was pinch-run for by Jordan Gray. Chandler Griffin drew a walk and Rachel Rigney advanced the runners with a groundout. Heather Johnston then brought both runners home on a single to center field.

The Hoosiers had taken a 2-0 lead in the fourth inning on a sacrifice bunt.

Indiana struck first in extras, plating one in the top half of the eighth. Troy would respond, scoring one of its own in the bottom half. McAllister began the inning on second and moved over to third on a sacrifice bunt by Erica Davis. Phelps came up big again, driving in McAllister with an RBI single to left field.

The game was then called due to inclement weather, giving Troy its second tie of the season.

Jaycee Affeldt stared the game for the Trojans, allowing five hits in five innings of work. Sara Mock came in in relief and allowed just one hit in three innings.

Phelps was the star performer on the day, going 3-for-4 at the plate. Rigney picked up a pair of hits.

Next up for the Trojans is the Eagle Classic, hosted by Georgia Southern. Troy will take on former Sun Belt foe Middle Tennessee twice, Georgia Southern twice and Tennessee State once. Competition begins on Friday, February 28.
