BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Troy women’s basketball team faced its biggest halftime deficit of the season and couldn’t recover in a 93-66 loss at WKU on Wednesday night.

Troy (8-14, 4-7) had won four of five entering the game, but fell victim to two separate first half runs as WKU led 52-19 at the break. With Troy leading 13-11, the Trojans didn’t scored for nearly eight minutes and WKU went on a 17-0 run.

Then, Troy didn’t scored for the final five minutes of the half as the Lady Toppers closed on an 18-0 run to take the 33-point halftime lead. WKU (15-8, 7-5) outrebounded Troy 30-12 in the first half and held a +11 turnover margin as Troy committed 15 first-half turnovers.

Troy did outscored the Lady Toppers in the second half, 47-41, but the hole was too deep. Joanna Harden led the Trojans with 26 points, but went 0-of-6 from the floor in the first half and had just two points at the break. Harden went 11-of-13 at the free throw line and has now scored 20-plus in eight straight games.

Kendall Noble had a career night for WKU with 26 points and eight rebounds, scoring 14 of those points in the deciding first half. Micah Jones scored all 17 of her points in the first half and Chastity Gooch scored 16 of her 22 in the opening frame.

The win snapped a three-game losing streak for the Lady Toppers and the loss made Troy winless all-time at E.A. Diddle Arena, in what was likely the final meeting as WKU leaves the Sun Belt Conference following this season.

For the game, WKU outrebounded Troy 53-29 and outscored the Trojans in the paint, 48-24. The Lady Toppers scored 37 points off of Troy’s 24 turnovers while committing just 14 turnovers themselves.

Troy shot 28 percent (7-of-25) in the first half before rebounding to shoot 47 percent (15-of-32) in the second. WKU shot over 42 percent in both halves and finished at 45 percent (34-of-75) for the game.

The Trojans return to the floor on Saturday when they host Georgia State at Trojan Arena at 7:45 p.m. The game will mark Troy’s annual Play 4Kay game as the Trojans look to raise awareness for breast cancer.
