UPDATE: Names of Victims of Monday's Crash that Claimed Three Lives have been Released

UPDATE: The names of the of the three people who lives were claimed by a three vehicle crash on Monday have been released. 

Debra Myers Askew, 61, of Brundidge, was critically injured when the 2005 Lexus she was driven struck a 2015 Hyundai driven by Robert C. Pecnick, 49, of St. Augustine, Fla. Pecnick and his wife Suzette(46) were pronounced dead at the scene by Pike County Coroner Jerry Williams. 

Mrs. Askew was transported by air to Southeast Alabama Medical Center in Dothan where she died a short time later. 

The driver of a third vehicle that was involved in the crash, a 2014 Navstar tractor-trailer, was not injured. 

The crash occurred at 2:10 p.m. on U.S. 231 at the 58.40 mile marker, four miles north of Ariton. Nothing further is available as Alabama State Troopers continue to investigate. 





Three people are dead and person has been air-lifted to a Montgomery hospital after a traffic accident that happened north of Ariton along U.S. Highway 231.

Authorities on the scene said that two passenger cars hit head on. Following the cars impact, the vehicles struck a semi truck. 

Traffic is still being detoured at this time, for that portion of the road on Highway 231 is still closed. 

Multiple law enforcement officers and agencies including Alabama State Troopers, along with fire and EMA are on the scene.
