Two men have been arrested on numerous charged involving cruelties to animals and failure to bury the animals after they died.

Williams Robert Williamson, Jr., 28, was arrested Thursday after 17 cow carcasses were found dead in a field along Forrester Road December 27. Specifically, Williamson is accused of 17 counts of animal cruelty and 17 counts of failing to bury livestock. He was booked into the Houston County Jail and later released on bond.

A second person, 46-year old David Cobb, surrendered Friday and was booked on the same number and type of charges that Williamson faces.

The cattle are believed to have died because they were not being properly fed according to Captain Antonio Gonzalez of the Houston County Sheriff’s Office.

The probe was conducted to the agriculture division of the Alabama Bureau of Investigation with help from the sheriff’s office.
