Man wanted for questioning in Florida murders arrested in Pike County

The Bay County Sheriff's Office has arrested the suspect in the homicide of a nightclub owner in Bay County, according to a media release.

Sheriff Frank McKeithen identified the suspect on Monday as Derrick Ray Thompson, 41, who is also a person of interest in a double homicide in Santa Rosa County over the weekend. Thompson is 5-feet-6 and weighs 225 pounds. The release said he was apprehended near Troy without incident.

The US Marshall's Service with Troy Police and the Dale County Sheriff's Air Unit all took part in the arrest.

Santa Rosa County deputies had also been searching for Thompson in connection to a double homicide of a married couple found shot inside their residence in Milton. According to their release, his last known location was Bay County on Sunday. In addition to being a suspect in the double homicide in Santa Rosa County, Thompson is wanted on burglary, grand theft and fraud charges in Santa Rosa County.
