Fort Rucker welcomed back a former Commanding General to award him a third star.

Anthony G. Crutchfield was promoted from Major General to Lieutenant General. Crutchfield spent two years as Ft. Rucker's Commanding General before transferring to the United States Pacific Command in Hawaii as the Chief of Staff. He is now the Deputy Commander in Hawaii.

"It's an honor for me, and of course it's an honor for my family," said Crutchfield after thanking this in attendance.

The newly appointed three star General wanted to have the Promotion Ceremony where his military career began. He went through flight school at Ft. Rucker in 1988.

"I'm only here because of the people that I work for and the people that have worked for me. Those are the people that lift you up to these heights, and I'll never forget that," Crutchfield said.

Crutchfield will now assume the position of Deputy Commander, U.S. Pacific Command.
