Reward offered in effort to solve Daleville church fire

A $7,000 reward has been offered for information leading to the conviction of those responsible for a fire that destroyed a Daleville church. The fire occurred May 18 at First United Methodist Church.

Special Agent Michael P. Knight of the Bureau of Tobacco, Firearms, Firearms and Explosives stopped short of calling the fire arson in an email sent to WDHN and However, he said an investigation continues in the fire that occurred only hours before services were scheduled.

ATF dispatched a Certified Fire Investigator (CFI) and additional special agents to the scene. CFIs are highly trained special agents, who provide technical support, analysis and assistance to its state and local partners in the areas of fire origin and cause determination and arson investigation,” Knight said.

ATF, Alabama State Fire Marshal’s Office, Dale County District Attorney’s Office as well as the Daleville Police and Fire Departments are conducting this investigation. Anyone with the information about the incident should call the Daleville Police Department at 334/598-4442.
