Law enforcement is renewing its call for people to stay off icy roadways until conditions improve. All U.S. and Alabama Highways have been deemed impassable. County maintained roads have been closed since late Tuesday.

Traffic, mostly large trucks, was being diverted Wednesday morning along U.S. 231 at Midland City. Several 18-wheelers are reportedly stalled north of Ozark on the highway.

“We would to remind citizens that ALL Dale County and state roads remain closed until further notice with the exception of emergency personnel,” said Sheriff Wally Olson. This includes U.S. Highway 231 and AL Highway 123. Road conditions in the northern portion of Dale County continue to be extremely dangerous. "All non-essential personnel are urged to stay off the roadways," Olsen urges.

Much of Interstate 10 through the Florida panhandle is also closed because of icing as is Hathaway Bridge that links Panama City with the beach.
