The National Hurricane Center is monitoring a disturbance in the central Atlantic Ocean for the possibility of becoming the season's next tropical storm or depression. The hurricane center is giving the system a 30% chance of developing over the next 48 hours. Over the next 5 days, that probability increases to 50%.

Early computer guidance indicates that the system will reach hurricane strength as is passes through the Caribbean Sea. The actual strength the system reaches will be dependent on the path that it takes. A track along the islands of the mountainous Greater Antilles would hinder strong development.

As the system moves westward, there is a possibility that it could enter the Gulf Of Mexico next week. That just meant that it will be worth keeping an eye on if it does indeed develop into something.

We will have the latest from the tropics all season long on the DothanFirst.com Tracking the Tropics page. You can also get the latest local weather form WDHN and Storm Tracker Live by downloading the free WDHN Weather app which is available for all Apple and Android products.
