Dothan police say they arrested a woman and on charges she helped her husband evade arrest while he was sought on a murder charge. Chrystal Bryant, 26, was taken into custody Thursday by officers alleging she hindered prosecution.

Bryant’s husband, Emmanuel, is accused of shooting a man while the two argued May 6th on Eugene Street. Police say when they arrived at the scene they found Daniel Dawsey lying in the street. He was pronounced dead a short time later.

“Investigators received information that both Emanuel and Crystal Bryant were at the Green House Inn and Lodge located in Daleville,” Police Chief Greg Benton said in a written release. He said surveillance was set up and the couple was taken into custody May 7. Investigators say Crystal picked up her husband after the murder and took him to the hotel.

Court records indicated Crystal Bryant was booked into the Houston County Jail and later released on $5,000 bond.
