Another man arrested in ongoing child sex police operation

An Ariton man remains jailed in Geneva County on charges he illegally solicited sex over the internet and traveled to meet what he thought was an underage girl for the purpose of having sex.

Court records show Hartford police arrested Joshua Randell McClendon Saturday during an ongoing operation known as Operation Guardian Angel where officers and others pose an underage girls. Police work with the Perverted Justice Foundation in the identification and arrests of those who seek illegal sex over the internet.

The ongoing operation has resulted in several recent arrests including a top healthcare executive from Atlanta accused of traveling to Hartford to meet what he thought was a 14-year old girl. The case has not yet been tried.

McClendon is also charged with transmitting obscene material and is held on bonds totaling $220,000.
