24 year old, James Mario Cherry IV has been identified as the suspect in the shooting of a man who was walking on the 1300 block of Pryor Street on Wednesday afternoon.
Dothan police responded to the shooting after the victim was taken to the Southeast Alabama Medical Center to be treated for multiple gunshot wounds.
"At this time James Cherry is still at large, we have not arrested him at this time," said Sgt. Jason Adkins of the Dothan Police Department. "He is considered armed and dangerous."
The shooting is one of many that has happened in this community which has brought fear to many of the residents.
"With the incident that happened yesterday it solidifies me that I rather have my kids in the house playing the video game on the TV or I rather take my kids to Westgate," said Llewellyn Roby a community member.
He feels that in order for the violence to stop in the community people must come together.
"We ought to sit and be able to talk about things, the things that people are getting shot over are mere trivial issues if that much its nothing you can't just brush off your shoulder come down or go out to the backyard and y'all just duke it out with your hands. Everybody will live." Roby said.
If you have seen Cherry you are encouraged to call Dothan Police at 615-3000 or Crime Stoppers at 793-7000.
