"My brother means a lot to me. He did anything he could for me," Alice Wimberly said, holding back tears. "I'm gonna really miss Sam."

Alice Wimberly remembers her brother, 49-year-old Sammy George, who died yesterday at a hospital in Tallahassee, Florida from what police say was a hit and run.

"He did what ever he could for the community. He was a very loving, caring person," Wimberly continued.

George was found by deputies lying on Jesse Johnson Street in Blakely with visible head injuries.

"We received a 911 call Saturday evening around 9:20 that a black male was laying in the road, possibly struck by a vehicle," Sheriff William Price of Early County said. "And they identified it to be Samuel George 49-year-old male from Early County."

Today George's family is hoping that someone will come forth with details about what happened that night.

"The only thing I just want someone that might have seen something, I want them to come forward and let us know something," George's father, Willie Williams, said.

The Early County Sheriff's Department is still waiting on autopsy results in order to determine a cause of death.

"We actually believe it was a accident, but it's still a hit and run and it caused a death," Sheriff Price said.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Early County Sheriff's Department.
