Panama City, Florida, May 29, 2014 - The Bay County Chamber of Commerce applauds today's passing of the Panama City Bed Tax proposal by the Panama City Tourist Development Tax Planning Committee. This proposal will allow Panama City to collect taxes from visitors, who rent or lease accommodations for less than six months, rather than the citizens of Panama City. We strongly believe that the funds generated will give our community the needed revenue to promote itself and draw more visitors.

If the proposal is passed by the Panama City Commission, it must then be approved by the Bay County Commission. If approved, the County Commission will hold a referendum for the citizens of Panama City to vote on the proposal.
