Jackson County Sheriff Office investigators say they believe drugs caused three people to hallucinate and attempt to protect themselves from attackers that existed only in their minds.

Officers say when they arrived at the Little Dothan Road home near Sneads Sunday the three people were on the top floor of the two-story home. They initially refused to come downstairs expressing fear their “attackers” were still inside.

Investigators say it was determined there were never attackers in the house and the paranoia was likely caused by an “altered mental state” due to the use of drugs. Officers claim they found remnants of what they term a shake and bake meth lab inside the home.

The three used several methods to try and fend off attackers that apparently didn’t exist according to deputies. They shot out windows and walls and threw “anything they could find” including the bathroom sink. Investigators say the trio even ripped a toilet from the floor and threw it out the window at the attackers that never existed.

Those arrested include:

Matthew Tyler McDaniel
30 Years of Age
Sneads, FL

Damian Joseph Hines
21 Years of Age
Sneads, FL

Madison Star Douglas
18 Years of Age
Doberman Rd. Marianna, FL

They have been charged with Possession of Methamphetamine, Attempt to Manufacture Methamphetamine, Felony Criminal Mischief, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
