A tropical wave in the mid-Atlantic could become of great interest along the Gulf Coast if it intensifies into a named storm. The wave, as of Monday afternoon, was located about 1000 miles east of the Lesser Antilles.

Forecasters say the system has only a small chance of becoming a tropical storm during the next five days---giving it only a 10% probability of developing. However, if it does intensify the storm could move into the Gulf within a few days.

There have only been two named storms in the 2014 hurricane season.
