Chipley graduate drowns in car in Tallahassee; driver charged

The Washington County community is in mourning tonight after a Chipley High School graduate dies in a car crash in Tallahassee.

Leon County Sheriff's Department confirms with ABC affiliate WTXL that 20 -year-old Jordan Rae Nedeau was discovered by a dive team inside a car at the bottom of the Ochlockonee River in Tallahassee around 1:30 Sunday morning.

20-year old Jeffrey Rushing has been charged with vehicular homicide following her death. Deputies found Rushing passed out in front of a business near the river Saturday morning. Rushing told deputies he drove into the water while Nedeau was still inside the car.

Nedeau graduated Summa Cum Laude from Chipley High School in 2012.

Friends of Nedeau took to Facebook and Twitter to remember their friend Sunday. At this time there's been no official word yet on if and when a vigil will be held.
