Possible tornado in Dekalb County

FORT PAYNE, Ala. (WAAY) - Winds produced by Thursday night's storm caused major damage for North Alabama, with a possible tornado hitting Fort Payne around 12:45 a.m.

According to Dekalb County's Emergency Management Agency, two apartment buildings, an industrial plant and a few houses sustained damage.

A tractor truck trailer was blown onto the roof of Jet Polymer Recycling, and dangled off the side of the building. Two people were inside the building when this happened, but were uninjured. Five other cargo trailers where blown around the parking lot of the industrial plant.

Mountain View Apartments suffered wind and water damage.

Two people were transported to Dekalb Regional Medical Center with non-critical injuries due to the storm.

Crews are still searching the area for possible rescues.
