DOTHAN, Ala. – Southeast Alabama Medical Center’s annual Men’s Health Fair is Saturday, August 2 from 8 to 11 a.m. at the Dothan Civic Center.

The SAMC Men’s Health Fair, in its 23rd year, offers the following non fasting blood tests: PSA, testosterone, cholesterol, thyroid and blood glucose. Other health screenings will include stroke assessment, vision testing, blood pressure, COPD, height and weight, body fat analysis and lung cancer screening. The event and all tests are free.

Screenings are provided by representatives from SAMC, the Houston County Health Department and US-Too Prostate Cancer Support Group.

Participants are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items for donation to the Wiregrass Area United Way Food Bank.

With 420 beds, SAMC is the largest hospital in the Wiregrass with approximately 300 physicians on the medical staff supported by more than 2,500 hospital employees. The not-for-profit hospital is owned and operated by the Houston County Health Care Authority. As the Tri-State referral center, the hospital’s central location makes it easily accessible to more than 600,000 residents. SAMC has been acknowledged as the only hospital in Alabama to be recognized for six consecutive years in the top five percent nationally for patient safety. SAMC is also the only hospital in Alabama to achieve the HealthGrades 2011 Patient Safety Excellence Award.
