How to save money and help the environment is what people learned at the seminar "The 3 R’s: Living Green."  Those three “R”s stand for reduce, reuse and recycle.

The seminar was held on August 21, 2014, at the Dothan Area Botanical Gardens and was also hosted by the Wiregrass Master Gardener Association.  A recycling enthusiast discussed methods on how to cut down on paper towel and plastic water bottles use. She also gave tips on making your own laundry soap, how to recycle junk mail and properly dispose of batteries.

“We live on an amazing planet, it’s a gift, and I need to be a better steward and I’d like to inspire others to do the same, so that we have the same amazing planet to leave to generations to come,” said Kimberly Ylitalo, a master gardener who taught the seminar.

She says the workshop is a good eye-opener for those who want to be resourceful and stretch their dollars.
