Four Houston County officers were promoted Monday—the same day a new sheriff took over.

They include Jeff Carlisle who was promoted from captain to chief deputy, Bill Rafferty promoted from lieutenant to captain of the Criminal Investigation division, Donovan Arias promoted to lieutenant over investigations, and Rick Clemmons promoted to investigations sergeant.

The quartet was promoted by newly-appointed sheriff Donald Valenza who took over his new duties Monday following the resignation of Andy Hughes.
