The family of Yavari Allen, who was gunned down and murdered in Enterprise in 2016, held a remembrance ceremony Thursday, April 12 at Angel of Hope Memorial at Westgate Park in Dothan.
The Allen family lost their loved one, Yavari Allen two years ago and they say it feels like yesterday.
"That smile he could charm me out of anything," said Carlisha Allen, YaVari's mother.
To remember YaVari, family and friends gathered on the 2 year anniversary and released balloons at a ceremony at the Angel of Hope Memorial in Dothan.
"It's for parents that lost a child. to give them hope and let them know there child will never be forgotten. So many parents who have lost a child from miscarriage or any other reason have come out here and really found peace and comfort for having the angel here," said Steve Hardwick, founder of Dothan's Angel of Hope Memorial.
"To have the community come and support and be here for me and the calls and the texts I could not have asked for more support," said Carlisha.
YaVari's parents say they will always remember the great times they had with their son.
"He was my chef, he picked the greens, he cut the green he pealed the potatoes for the potato salad and all he wanted in return was his favorite strawberry cake," said Carlisha.
"I miss joking with him. And when this happened I told my wife that I was going to get a tatoo of him so that he would be with me forever," said Thurston Allen YaVari's father.
The family says all they want justice and for the man responsible for ripping YaVari from the lives, to serve his time.
"He shot an unarmed man running for his life. And that's all I want is justice for my child out of all this. And I won't stop until I get justice even if it kills me," said Carlisha.
