Enterprise State Community College announces new President

ENTERPRISE, Ala.--Every good high school student will one day head off to college and now Enterprise Principal Matt Rodgers is doing the same, taking over the reins of Enterprise State Community College.

Rodgers says it's bittersweet but he's excited and humbled at the opportunity.

"I love Enterprise High School and our teachers and students. I'm going to miss them dearly but very excited of what lies ahead at EnterpriseSttate Community College. It's a wonderful institution, said Rodgers.

Rodgers has been at Enterprise High School for sixteen years.

Arriving at the school in 2001 as a teacher and a coach, then moving up the ranks into administration as assistant principal for four years before eventually becoming principal of EHS, a job he has held for the past six years.

Faculty members express their appreciation of Rodgers and his time at EHS.

"I'm super excited for him. He's provided us with outstanding leadership through a lot of difficult times. We will miss our leader here at EHS," said Susan Burns, Enterprise High School teacher.

The Enterprise State Community College has also expressed excitement in a statement stating:

"The faculty, staff, and students at Enterprise State are excited about Mr. Rodger's arrival and we look forward to his leadership and the future of Enterprise State."

"They have great instructors and a wonderful academic tradition. I look forward to becoming a part of the Weevil family," said Rodgers.

As Mr. Rodgers said in a public statement to the school and community "once a wildcat, always a wildcat."

A press conference at the college will be held after Rodger's tenure begins on September 1,2017.

The next Enterprise City Schools Board meeting is August 29.
