Enterprise Shooting Update

ENTERPRISE, Ala.-- It's been a busy 48 hours for area law enforcement after a man was found dead in Enterprise.

Thursday they came together to talk about the events surrounding the capture of Jareece Blackmon.

"Around 10am, EPD detectives were doing an investigation on information that was received that the suspect was in an apartment near the intersection of Alberta St. and Lee St," said Enterprise Police Chief T.D. Jones.

Officers tried to make contact upon arrival but no one came to the door. They then secured and evacuated other tenants in the building.

The US Marshals and Dothan Police Department SRT Team were called to assist the situation.

"We developed a plan and we decided to go into the front door and we decided to take a robot and a tactical K-9 in with us to clear it. We were able to clear about 90 percent of the house," said Cpt. Bubba Ott, Dothan Police SRT Team.

"Dothan SRT Team made entry and then apprehended the murder suspect Jareece Blackmon who was arrested for murder and later charged with trafficking marijuana," said Chief Jones.

Two other individuals were removed from the residence during the operation.

They've been identified as Delicia Sweet, the mother of the suspected shooter. She has been charged with drug trafficking.

The second person is the brother Jamison Blackmon. After being questioned and released, officers signed a warrant for his arrest. So far they have not located him.

Both were charged after investigators retrieved evidence from the residence.

"Detectives recovered a duffel bag containing 20 pounds of marijuana and several firearms," said Chief Jones.
