Elba Police Chief Freddie Hanchey and Investigator Andy Gunter, sources tell us retired Tuesday.
This comes after Alabama Peace Officers' Standards and Training Commission, or APOST, launched an investigation against the department regarding forged documents submitted to the agency.
We're told APOST investigators have been interviewing current and former police officers regarding these documents.
In order to be certified by APOST, an officer must have a current pistol certification and 12 hours of law enforcement training, yearly.
We're told that some of the officers haven't been certified in several years.
End of employment for the two will take effect May 31st.
