Panhandle Converter Recycling was growing so quickly they decided to create a new brand, Urban Mining. This announcement also comes with the naming of a new president.
Urban Mining has been a project in the making for quite some time and that vision is now a reality. Currently the company handles platinum group metal recovery and catalytic converter recycling.
"We really had some technological break throughs about 12 months ago that gave us mass market growth,” said President Lyle Peluso, Jr. “We realized we needed to develop a company that would focus on getting those technologies to the people that needed them."
Urban Mining is an eco-friendly management system designed to optimize the return of Platinum Group Metal materials. They'll take this method and teach it to people all over the world.
"We are going to be licensing that to company's who want to understand the true value of precious metal content of ceramic catalyst,” said Peluso.
Business leaders in Dothan are happy to see it take off.
"Panhandles growth and presence in our community is a great success story about hard work and perseverance and team work within the community to help them grow and expand with the local and state support,” said President of Dothan Area Chamber of Commerce, Matt Parker.
The innovative database will eliminate industry confusion and promote growth through a sustainable model.
The announcement came with lots of emotion and the new president said it's because they've worked hard and they're happy to see it come to fruition
"Anytime you are doing something different anytime you are trying to change industry and you're trying to forge new technology you're going to get a lot of nos along the way,” said Peluso. “So, I think the emotion comes from all the people who work so hard and really believe in what we're doing to get to this place that it's going global. It's an exciting time for Dothan and the company."
