Casting crowns is a well known christian band and they're about to begin their 2014 Thrive Tour. The single on their latest album was inspired right here in the Wiregrass.

During a recent visit  to Geneva a farmer gave them some history on the large oak tree.

"There's just as many roots as there are limbs, there's just as much under the surface as there is above and I think a lot of times as believers we look at the surface for everything, because we don't understand,” said Mark Hall. “It's the roots of who God made us is his, right. So, what we're trying to challenge people to do is get in the word a little bit.”

Lead band member Mark Hall isn't a stranger to the area. He attended the Baptist College of Florida and remembers eating at Larry's BBQ. Now, he makes it a tradition to eat there every time he visits, but the band has other traditions they do before each show.

"We get in the word a little bit - and we'll do that today and then we walk through the chairs just praying for people that are coming to remember tonight that if all we are doing is music then we are totally going to miss something that could be bigger,” said Hall. “So, our prayer is that we'll remember that we don't want to get too busy in our roles and forget that God has to do this and we're also praying for people that are coming."

The members said life on the road isn't too bad, especially when they have their families with them.

"It's not just a bunch of grown ups working. It's play time, it's fun time - home school on the buses - so what you do is as a grown up you try to get out of the way of the kids and let them do their home school and get off the bus and give them some room,” said band member Brian Scoggin.

The group said they feel humble while performing in front of hundreds and even thousands of people. The official tour kicks off September 18th and you can visit the Casting Crowns website for more information.
